How do you find jobs in different state?

I would try national job sites, like.
Also, try contacting a variety of recruiters in California. I would do some research and find some smaller firms, not national chains. They will be more responsive and treat you like a human being. Also, if you are willing to pay your own relocation, put that in your cover letters. Some companies might cross you off the list right away due to relocation costs.
